Lauren Garrison: Testing Materials for the Future of Fusion
Lauren Garrison, a Weinberg Fellow in the Nuclear Materials Science and Technology Group at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, is a fusion materials researcher currently collaborating with Japanese researchers on Project PHENIX, an experiment designed to evaluate tungsten and tungsten-based materials for possible use in future fusion reactors.

Working in collaboration with scientists at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Brookhaven National Laboratory and SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, researchers at the University of Arizona have identified details of how certain plants scavenge and accumulate pollutants in contaminated soil.
