Hannibal Joma joined the Scientific User Facilities Division of DOE’s Office of Basic Energy Sciences in May 2022 as a construction program manager. Previously he had over fifteen years of experience as the Federal Project Director managing strategic science projects at SLAC and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories in support of Office of Basic Energy Sciences, Office of High Energy Physics, and Office of Fusion Energy Science.
From 1999 – 2005 Mr. Joma was the National Nuclear Security Administration assistant program manager stationed at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory overseeing the implementation of several nuclear stockpile stewardship program elements in support of nuclear non-proliferation and fusion ignition national campaigns at partner laboratories including Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, University of Rochester Laboratory for Laser Energetics, and Sandia National Laboratory.
From 1997-1998, as part of his post-baccalaureate studies in physics, Hannibal was a research assistant setting up experiments for investigation of plasma phenomena in ultra-intense laser fields and measurements of the laser energy-to-electron-energy conversion efficiency in solid targets. Experiments were performed at the Nova laser facility at LLNL.
