Interagency Coordination
The Office of Science (SC) recognizes that interagency bonds are critical to meeting our mission. SC has many longstanding partnerships with our sister agencies with large science portfolios—including DOD, NASA, NIH, NIST, and NSF—in areas where our priorities intersect, such as plasma science, climate science, astrophysics, medical isotopes, and more. New opportunities for collaboration and coordination are emerging in biopreparedness, quantum information science, high energy beam-based therapy, and high-performance computing, among others. The Office of International Activities, Research Security, and Interagency Coordination (IRIC) works to strengthen SC’s interagency ties and establish new linkages while also supporting SC’s engagement in policymaking activities led by the White House, such as through participation on committees convened by the National Science & Technology Council and the National Security Council.
