David Cinabro
User Facilities
Dr. David Cinabro has overseen user facilities for the Office of Nuclear Physics since May 2022.
Prior to joining the Office of Nuclear Physics, Dr. Cinabro had an IPA assignment in the Office of High Energy Physics as an assistant Program Manager in the Intensity Frontier. He was chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Wayne State University in Detroit from 2015 to 2020 and a professor there since 1995. He did research on rare behavior of the charm and bottom quarks most recently as a member of the Belle collaboration, cosmology with supernovae, and accelerator physics. He was co-spokesperson of the CLEO heavy quark experiment 1999-2000.Dr. Cinabro received a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison for research on bottom quark production and decay in electron-positron production of the Z0. He did post-doctoral research at Harvard University, where he worked on CLEO searching for rare heavy flavor decays, measuring the properties of charm hadrons, and designing accelerator-detector interface regions. He spent a sabbatical year at his undergraduate alma mater the University of Chicago as a visiting fellow at the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics. There he worked on the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. He has served on numerous review committees for the DOE and NSF in High Energy Physics, Astrophysics, Advanced Computing, and Physics Education.
