Erica Wallstrom

Erica Wallstrom teaches at Rutland High School, which is located on the western slope of the Green Mountains in Vermont. While she works primarily with freshman Earth Science students, Erica also teaches a fundamentals of science course for special needs students, and capstone course for upperclassmen completing a STEM concentration. Erica’s teaching reflects her belief that all people are capable of learning, want to succeed, and need to belong. Her goal as an educator is to foster experiences that inspire all learners while providing opportunities for incremental, personalized growth in an inclusive, welcoming, safe environment.
Erica was placed in the Polar Division at the National Science Foundation as an Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow. Through the fellowship she was able to connect with the Institute for Arctic Studies at Dartmouth. As their lead educator, Erica helped develop and implement JSEP and JASE, two field-based science experiences that bring high school students to both Greenland and Antarctica.
