Gretel von Bargen teaches International Baccalaureate Biology at Skyline High School in Sammamish, WA. Gretel is serving her Fellowship in the Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists in the Department of Energy’s Office of Science. For fifteen years, Gretel has been a dedicated and passionate high school biology teacher. She has a B.S. in zoology, a B.S. in psychology and a Master in Teaching, all from the University of Washington. Gretel serves as a member of the University of Washington Professional Educators advisory board and holds a National Board Certificate in Adolescent and Young Adult Science. She received the 2010 Presidential Scholar Teacher Recognition Award, the 2011 Sammamish Learning Promotion Award and was a 2013 Washington State awardee of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching.
