Matthew Milligan, Coach
Coach Matthew Milligan teaches physics and astronomy at Farragut High School. He has been enjoying the unique challenge of teaching for about thirty years. He is an active member of the AP physics teaching community, having been a reader, table leader, and question leader at the annual AP physics reading. He has also helped develop and write physics items for the College Board. He has spent the last five summers touring America in his recreational vehicle with his three wonderful daughters, having visited all forty eight continental states. Coach Milligan has hiked Half Dome, was once voted Rebel of the Year, fronted a band called the Green Howlers, and broke his arm in a highly competitive wiffle ball tournament.
Chris Keum
Chris Keum is a sophomore at Farragut High School. Although he enjoys all science-related studies, he is specifically interested in biology, and he has competed in numerous biology-related competitions, including Biology Olympiad and Health Occupations Students of America. Outside of school, Chris also plays as a violinist in the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra and volunteers at his local korean school. In his free time, Chris can be found reading mystery novels and the Campbell biology textbook, playing video games, and hanging out with friends.
Raymond Jin
Raymond Jin is a senior at Farragut High School. He enjoys all things STEM, but mathematics, astronomy, and physics are his favorite subjects in the field. Beyond STEM, Raymond is also interested in areas like public policy and economics. This wide range of passions has led him to both publish a research paper on Covid-19 and serve as the student representative on the Knox County Board of Education. In his free time, Raymond enjoys reading books, playing the piano, and hanging out with friends. Although he has not yet committed to a college, Raymond plans to attend Yale University for the 2022-2023 school year.
Ridhima Singh
Ridhima Singh is a junior and a #womaninstem. She is especially interested in math, and has participated in numerous competitions at the local, state, and national levels. Ridhima is also a two-time International Science and Engineering Fair finalist. When she is not in school, Ridhima is probably swimming since she is part of her high school’s swim team and a year-round USA swimmer. Additionally, she is an avid movie watcher. Some of her favorite movies are 10 Things I Hate About You, Ocean’s 11, and 90% of the Marvel movies. Ridhima’s life goal is to visit all sixty three national parks, and, having visited fourteen, she is making steady progress.
Nia Maheshwari
Nia Maheshwari is a junior interested in a diverse range of fields. She has been an active member of Science Club since freshman year and competed in Science Olympiad and Science Bowl multiple times. Aside from STEM, Nia enjoys the unique experience of Model United Nations style debate. She also likes painting and making color pencil art, and often enters her art in exhibitions and contests. During the summer, you can find her volunteering or manning her henna art booth - Henna by Nia - at local fairs. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her lazy cat, painting, reading, or playing badminton.
George Hu
Cordelia Hu is a transgender sixteen-year-old who is interested in math and physics. Apart from being a part of her Science Bowl team, she participates in other math and science competitions, like the USA Junior Mathematical Olympiad, USA Physics Olympiad, and the Canadian Mathematical Olympiad. Her favorite problem is probably USA Junior Mathematical Olympiad 2021, question two, which she loves because of how you can solve it in multiple ways. Outside of school, she is an okay swimmer and struggles to find ways to express her gender, which she finds difficult to do when surrounded by her parents. In her free-time, she can be found playing various video games, such as Genshin Impact, talking with her supportive friends, and preparing for Math Olympiads.
