Lexington High School
Lexington High School
Nicholas Gould, Coach
Coach Nicholas Gould holds a B.A. in math and physics from Colgate and a Master of Arts in Teaching in physics from Bridgewater State. He is thrilled to teach physics and coach Science Bowl at Lexington High School. His parents and an enthusiastic math professor fueled his passion for teaching. As an avid pingpong enthusiast, he teaches how to induce topspin on strange neutral 40mm Gaussian shells though his current students lack the capacity to resist his circuitous and revolting explanations. He enjoys playing pool so he can show his team how both momentum and energy can be created without the need for an external force. Coach Gould is excited to be a part of the National Science Bowl for the fifteenth time, and would miss his family but would love to get back to D.C. if his team can pull it off. When not subjecting his students to periods of “pun”ishment and baffling them about the conservation laws, he enjoys tutoring, photography, high-end audio and surfing.
Sean Fei
Sean Fei, currently a senior at Lexington High School, has been participating in Science Bowl since middle school. If you cannot find Sean by the nearest copy of Campbell, look outside, and you might see Sean gazing up at the stars - he studies astronomy too. He is also interested in photography, so next time you see Sean, ask him to take your picture! After Sean graduates this year, he is headed to the Montana Institute of Technology (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), where he will leave Campbell behind for computer science (he is already preparing for the day humans will be replaced with AI).
Gideon Tzafriri
Gideon Tzafriri is serving the final year of his sentence at Lexington High School without parole. At Lexington High School, Gideon managed to be an American Mathematics Competition 12 qualifier, F=ma qualifier, and an AP chemistry qualifier. When he is not procrastinating his english homework or his University of California: Berkeley application, he is lifting Science Bowl buzzers with one hand, while benching Atkins with another (you will know since he will be on DND on discord). Simply being in a room with Gideon a-lone pairs you with a prom date as he will make you more nucleophilic from his pure alpha male effect. Having lost his vision from performing too many 4+2 husigen cycloadditions, he now gets around via echolocating with his massive Lenovo Carbon X-1. Even on a bad day he is hotter than a bitcoin miner heatstroking in their sleep. Originally a supermodel, he is now an S-tier waifu full time. If you run into Gideon, be sure to remind him to sign up for his AP exams, thanks.
Daniel Zhang
Daniel Zhang is a twelve-year-old at Lexington High School, but will soon be studying astrobiological geochemical physics with computational modeling next year. Daniel has begun channeling his appreciation for Japanese culture into his geological studies by using Genshin to help practice identifying rocks. However, Daniel’s appreciation has sadly morphed into an addiction to gambling away his mental sanity. Daniel’s dedication to Science Bowl dwarfs his anime addiction though. When he was a lad he wrote four dozen questions every morning to get large, and now that he is grown he writes roughly five dozen questions so he is roughly the size of a barge. Starting off as a measly member of the B team - one of only two freshmen to be so unlucky - Daniel has risen by exactly one team during all of high school. We all hope his luck will turn when he next faces down his arch-nemesis, Extrino, in the final showdown: a Minecraft© pot PVP duel.
Tanmay Gupta
Tanmay Gupta the fysics boi is very smart. In an alternate universe, he is the famous coding guy with a Youtube channel having a whopping 1337 subscribers. But here he is a soccer player who is great at fysical lessons. He is in possession of the ball with ten seconds left in the game. Knowing he can kick a soccer ball at a whopping speed of ten meters per second, he aims for the top left of the net which is two meters above the ground and eight meters away. After doing the calculations in his massive brain, Tanmay kicks the ball at a thirty degree angle. The ball sails right into the goal, and Tanmay hears cheering. He just scored a goal, and his teammates are coming up to him, and putting him in a headlock?!?! That was when he realized that he scored.... in the wrong goal.
Kevin Zhao
Kevin Zhao is a senior at Lexington High School at the ripe age of twelve, and is colloquially known as the Marvelous Massachusetts Math Mercenary. One can find him wandering through the halls murmuring about AOPS's reaper game or trying to get fellow Science Bowl member Gideon to play For The Win with him. Sometimes, if one strains their ear enough, you can hear Kevin's visceral screams of pain from dropping his favorite class of all time, AP biology. His love for biology is only dwarfed by his love of cosplaying as the well known online personality, kevinmathz, his true idol. Despite coding a variety of discord bots, he still insists that light mode is superior to dark mode, much to the chagrin of the rest of his teammates. An paranormal contradiction, Kevin is nothing but the true heir to the prestigious title, "Titan of Testosterone."
