Kevin Farrell, Coach
Coach Kevin Farrell has been coaching Science Bowl for the past nineteen years. This will be his eleventh trip to the national competition. Kevin teaches AP physics at Naperville North High School where he has eighteen years of experience. Coach Farrell graduated with a physics degree from the University of Arizona, and has two master’s degrees. His hobbies include painting, playing tennis and basketball.
Nicolas Liu
Nicolas Liu is a senior at Naperville North High School. His intense desire to fool around in labs led him to passionately study physics and chemistry, and fortunately he has not accidentally blown something up yet. In the future, he hopes to study renewable energy, including nuclear fusion (again, hopefully not to blow stuff up). In his free time, Nick enjoys hitting tennis balls, talking about his groutfits, and carpooling.
Henry Xie
Here is my bio: Henry Xie is a senior at Naperville North High School. He enjoys competing in math and physics competitions, and also does those subjects for Science Bowl. In his free time, Henry enjoys playing the violin, reading opinion articles, and playing tennis. He is also an avid poker player.
Ella Xu
Ella Xu is a graduating senior from Naperville North High School. During her high school years, she discovered her passion for all things earth science. Her favorite subtopics are geophysics, geochemistry and seismology, so if you ever bump into her, prepare to be introduced to her humble but ever-growing rocks and minerals collection. In her free time, Ella enjoys playing badminton, crocheting, teaching herself Russian, and critiquing Netflix shows.
Joseph Tennyson
Joseph Tennyson is a senior at Naperville North High School. He sometimes does math and biology which coincidentally are his science bowl subjects. In his free time, he occasionally dabbles in the world of basketball where he frequently breaks ankles (a certain science bowl teammate can attest).
Andrew Tang
Andrew Tang is currently a sophomore at Naperville North. He enjoys doing STEM-related activities, particularly those relating to life sciences and biology. In addition to science bowl, Andrew also does USA Biology Olympiad and Science Olympiad. His favorite hobbies include solving rubik's cubes, playing Minecraft, and playing instruments. He also enjoys watching things grow, whether they are M. Pudica plants or white fungal mycelium. His habitat does not include anywhere south of St. Louis as he strongly dislikes intense heat. Hence, his favorite season is winter, since he can watch the snow float outside his window as he sifts through Campbell's for the nth time.
