Tesla STEM High School
Andy Christensen, Coach
Coach Andy Christensen teaches computer science at Tesla STEM High School. He struggles to say no, which results in him coaching or advising Science Bowl, Science Olympiad, ORCA/National Ocean Sciences Bowl, the Astronomy/Astrophysics/Earth Science Society (Olympiad), CODE Club, and Quantum Computing Club. Andy is a 22+ year business and IP lawyer and, before that, helped treat sewage and solid waste as a professional civil engineer in California. In his spare time, he drives around North America and helps propagate the once-popular arts of making folk/hippie music, playing cards, board games and doing the New York Times crossword puzzle.
Yuchen Li
Yuchen Li is a senior at Tesla STEM High School. Yuchen likes rocks, big floating rocks, and fizzy bubbles. Outside of Science Bowl, he is an avid science olympian, International Earth Science Olympiad gold medalist, mineral collector (@yl.min4), and clarinetist. He notably loves the Modified Mercalli scale, often claiming "they modified it and made it great."
Samiullah Khan Badal Khan
Samiullah Khan Badal Khan is a junior at Tesla STEM High School who enjoys physics and chemistry. He is fascinated by the physical world that surrounds him and loves learning about it (not rocks though). When he is not busy frantically wrapping up tasks in the night or reading literature, he spends his time watching anime, talking to his friends, or playing video games.
Evan Kim
Evan "Yvonne" Kim enjoys physics, making videos for his YouTube channel called Slipping Hexagons, eating pizza flavored pringles, and playing competitive Wordle. In his free time, Evan can be found calibrating water clocks, designing antennae, and qualifying for the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics.
Rohan Iyer
Rohan Iyer is a senior attending Tesla STEM High School in Washington State. His dual passion for biology and computer science stems from a fascination with complex systems and how modern solutions can be found to serve individuals and communities. Accordingly, Rohan has worked on a plethora of developmental and research projects centered around technological solutions for COVID-19-related problems, as well as leading a research effort on spatial privacy and presenting his findings at the seventh International Conference on Geographical Information Systems Theory, Applications and Management. Rohan also enjoys spreading his love of science and technology as the president of his school’s biology and Science Bowl clubs. Between the busy moments of his day-to-day life, Rohan enjoys birdwatching around the lake and nature trails near his house.
Sebastian Kumar
Sebastian Kumar is a junior at Tesla STEM High School. He loves math and chemistry because of the logical reasoning those subjects employ, and also because molecules and equations are cool. Besides Science Bowl, Sebastian puts his effort into the Science Olympiad, the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad, and various math competitions like American Mathematics Competition/American Invitational Mathematics Examination . Sebastian likes to spend his free time listening to music or doing fun activities with his family.
