Kathy Browning, Coach
Coach Kathy Browning has been teaching for seventeen years and is now a seventh-grade math teacher at Farragut Middle School in Knoxville, Tennessee. This is her fourth year as Science Bowl coach and she is thrilled to be attending the National Science Bowl for the third time, even though her team does not think they need her. Coach Browning has a love of teaching and of students. She has taught many different ages and subjects including preschool music, elementary school, english/language arts and even trumpet lessons. The National Science Bowl trip is the highlight of her school year.
Ruhaan Singh
Ruhaan Singh is an eighth-grader at Farragut Middle School. He enjoys math, physics, and computing and has participated in many STEM competitions, including MATHCOUNTS and Broadcom Masters Science Fair. Outside of school, he plays soccer for his school’s team and also enjoys playing basketball. In addition, he likes to watch professional sports and play a variety of video games. His favorite sports teams include the Boston Celtics, Boston Redsox, New England Patriots, and Paris Saint Germain.
Albert Liu
Albert Liu is an eighth-grader currently attending Farragut Middle School in Knoxville Tennessee. He is interested in topics such as engineering, astrology, and physics. He has competed in competitions including Science and Math Olympiad. Outside of school, Albert enjoys playing tennis, spending time with friends, and playing trombone. He made first chair Gold in the East Tennessee School Band & Orchestra Association junior clinic. Albert is still undecided on what he wants to do in the future, but hopes to pursue a career in STEM.
Yunpeng Tan
Yunpeng Tan is an eighth-grader in Farragut Middle School who is interested in math and science. He has participated in different math competitions and hopes to be in different math and science clubs and competitions in high school. Aside from academics, he likes reading books, playing video games, and doing various activities with his friends. Yunpeng plays both the violin and the saxophone, and although he is not on any teams, he can play several sports, although admittedly not too well.
Sophia Chen
Sophia Chen is an eighth-grader at Farragut Middle School. She enjoys math and science, particularly biology. She hopes to continue with STEM competitions throughout high school and also get involved in debate-related clubs. Outside of school, she likes to play tennis, read, and listen to music. She also plays violin and has participated in the local Knoxville Youth Symphony orchestras for six years. Her biggest goal in high school is to not become an insomniac
Frank Yang
Frank Yang is an eighth-grader at Farragut Middle School, and it is his first year here as well as his first year participating in Science bowl. Frank enjoys studying quantum mechanics and computer science. When not studying you might find him gaming, playing basketball, or hanging out with friends. In the coming future, Frank wants to be accepted into the Massachusetts Institution of Technology and major in computer science, yet his unrealistic dream is to become a professional Esport player.
