Sevcan Acikgoz, Coach
Coach Sevcan Acikgoz has been teaching science since 2007. She has worked in Turkey, India, Texas, and Arkansas as a science teacher, and science fair coordinator. She has coached many teams for science fair, International Project Olympiads and science competitions and has received many medals and awards.
Coach Acikgoz is currently the Science Bowl coach, science fair coordinator and middle school science teacher at Lisa Academy West Middle School. Coach Acikgoz loves to guide and encourage students to reach their goals. She has a master’s degree in curriculum and Instruction in science. She is coaching the Science Bowl team and her team became this year's Arkansas champion. The team is looking forward to competing at Science Bowl Nationals in Washington, D.C .She is proud of her team. Coach Acikgoz likes hiking, swimming, and traveling to see new places. Also, she enjoys spending time with her family and has a lovely daughter and son.
Siddharth Sridharan
My name is Siddharth Sridharan. I am an eighth-grader attending Lisa Academy West Middle School. I enjoy science, math, and geography a lot. This year was my second year participating in the Science Bowl. I enjoyed it throughout. I am currently the captain of the Science Bowl team. I am also captain of the quiz bowl team (top ten in the state of Arkansas) and I expect to potentially win the state competition and be the best player in the state of Arkansas. I am looking forward to competing at the national level for the Science Bowl, as this is my first time competing at the national level. My hobbies include quiz bowl, basketball, and badminton.
Aakash Bhattacharrya
My name is Aakash Bhattacharyya, and I am an eighth-grader in Lisa Academy West Middle School. I enjoy science and math a lot. This year, I participated in the Science Bowl for the first time, as I missed it last year due to Covid-19. I enjoyed it throughout. I am currently the captain of the MATHCOUNTS team in my school. Our MATHCOUNTS team went to the national competition last year and finished second in the state of Arkansas. I expect to potentially qualify again this year. I am looking forward to competing at the national level for the Science Bowl. My hobbies include chess, basketball, and tennis.
Amrita Choudhary
My name is Amrita Choudhary, and I’m an eighth-grader at Lisa Academy West Middle School. I enjoy science, especially microbiology and anatomy. These passions encouraged me to join competitive clubs such as Science Olympiad and Science Bowl in seventh grade. This is my second year participating in both competitions. Last year, my team won first in the state. Now, I hope to win at nationals. I plan on becoming a medical researcher one day. My hobbies include reading, badminton, and playing the piano.
Aarush Gaddi
My name is Aarush Gaddi. I really have a passion for science and math, which is why I decided to compete in the Science Bowl. In fact, my favorite sections of science are astronomy, anatomy, and physiology. I strive one day to become a doctor. My family and friends motivate me each day to keep trying and studying for my goals. My other hobbies include tennis, Boy Scouts, and researching science fiction.
Sohan Jayappa
Hello, my name is Sohan Jayappa and I go to Lisa Academy West Middle School. I am in eighth-grade and enjoy biology and human anatomy. This is my second year of the Science Bowl. My team came in first in the state and attended the national competition last year. Another competition I enjoy is the Science Olympiad. A few of my hobbies are drawing and painting. In the future I plan to become a cardiologist or neurosurgeon. I am really excited for the national level of Science Bowl.
